Living in the Holme Valley, in the South Western corner of Yorkshire all my life, I believe I have a certain feel for the place, its people and their way of life. The Holme Valley is also within the northern boundaries of the Peak District, and the southern base of The Great Pennine Range - Paradise indeed!
The lush moorlands and valleys are refreshed with more than a generous share of water, all I need are a few brushes and a drop of paint!
Over the past 30 years, I have held one man exhibitions and joint shows at various venues throughout the North of England. I've also had the honour of being asked to judge at several exhibitions and shows, including the Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition. In addition, I was a member of the Yorkshire Watercolour Society before its demise.
I concentrate mainly on the landscape and rural buildings of the area, particularly the farm lands and the fascinating ways the farmers have of holding things together, and the many buildings in various stages of dereliction, never to be seen again. Occasionally I like to add a bit of humour to the finished product - you can't beat a bit of Yorkshire Relish! The animals of the area are, of course, very important and not to be overlooked!
I am always available for commissions of favourite views, family homes, pets etc - These tend to be popular for retirements, birthdays, and celebrations. Please do get in touch with me to arrange a personal commission to provide someone special with a unique gift.
